PDVSA Gas starts up Jusepín 12 Compressor Plant

Anaco.-PDVSA Gas, a subsidiary of Petroleos de Venezuela SA (PDVSA), progresses steadily in the consolidation of our country as a global energy superpower, actively working on improving its processes to continuing sustain production of fuel, ensuring consistent and timely supply of gas and liquids both at domestic and international levels.

The most recent works from the gas subsidiary of Petroleos de Venezuela Socialista is the construction of the plant Jusepín 12. The project was implemented by the General Manager of compression, through the Technical Management Department to eliminate the venting of gas, which is now used to meet power generation, extraction of natural gas liquids (NGL), injection sites and domestic market requirements.

The compression plant consists of four compressors units with capacity of 30 million cubic feet of gas each, to handle 120 million cubic feet of gas per day, which began operating under the name of Jusepín 12, at the Jusepín Complex, District Furrial, Monagas state.

Operational availability
The work was executed in record time, with construction in five months and a half, thanks to the coordinated work of PDVSA Gas and joint ventures Venrus Services, formed by PDVSA and Russia's state energy company Gazprom, which is part of the cooperation agreements of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Russian Federation as an effort result of the Bolivarian government on promoting a new international geopolitics.

This increases plant availability and operational compression flexibility to run the respective maintenance without closure of production.

The compressed gas for the plant comes from wells in the field Jusepín, Furrial District, operated by PDVSA Exploration and Production East. The final discharge takes place in the Jusepín Complex, to be used on power plants generating electricity on the national sales domestic market and operational tasks.

The elimination of venting and flaring of gas is another benefit from the operational facility, which contributes to minimizing the environmental impact of operational activities implemented by the oil and gas industry, which are premised on the preservation of Mother Earth.

The work had an accelerated construction and operation plan, implemented in coordination with the People’s Ministry for Energy and Petroleum and PDVSA Exploration and Production East.

The investment was of 197 million Bolivars, generating 456 jobs, 114 of them direct and 342 indirect, which directly benefits the community of Jusepin as well as populations adjacent to operational facilities.
