Lagunillas.-Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA) reports that the operations at the Lagunillas Norte tank farm, Zulia state, are running smoothly.
PDVSA also clarifies that the spill of petrolized waters in neighboring channels was due to the heavy rain during the weekend.
The prompt, timely implementation of the spill prevention and control plan at the Exploration and Production Western Division allowed for effective collection in the area and prevented damages to third parties. It also prevented environmental damages, because the petrolized water only reached the internal and external channels on the premises. Oil containing barriers, vacuum trucks, skimmers and portable tanks were used in the works.
It should be noted that there are not storage restrictions for handling and shipment of crude oil and the production is fully accomplished. Therefore, reliable processes and fulfillment of trade commitments are ensured.
The Exploration and Production Western Division has also a daily air monitoring schedule for timely troubleshooting, planning and prompt corrective action, in addition to preventive maintenance of channels.
PDVSA reasserts its commitment to environmental preservation and compliance with the industrial security measures to safeguard the company’s human resources and facilities.
