PDVSA Oriente Bike Tour of Sucre, Monagas and Anzoátegui states

Maturín.- The 2008 PDVSA Oriente 18th PDVSA Bike Tour will take place from May 27th to June 1st in the main roads of Sucre, Monagas and Anzoátegui states. The event will be cheered by racing riders from the best teams of Venezuela, along with members of the teams of Cuba and Colombia.

More than 120 riders are expected to join the contest backed by the Venezuelan Bicycle Federation (FVC) and organized jointly by the new PDVSA and the Anzoátegui State Cycling Association. They will cover 842.3 kilometers during six stages and compete for 13 scoring sprints, 11 sprints in bonuses and nine hill prizes.

Six-day contest
The event will start at 09:30 a.m. The first section of 164.1 kilometers will be on Tuesday, May 27th in Cumaná, Sucre state, beginning in front of the head offices of Exploration and Production, Offshore Division, Petróleos de Venezuela and ending at Carúpano’s Miranda Square.

The second and longest stage will start at 09:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28th, from Carúpano to the site in front of the headquarters (ESEM) of Exploration and Production, East Division, located on Ugarte Pelayo Avenue, Maturín, Monagas state, after traveling 170.6 kilometers.

The third day will begin at 09:30 a.m., on Thursday, May 29th, from the PDVSA head offices in Maturín on the way to Punta de Mata, until completing the 145.7-kilometer trip in Bolívar Avenue.

On Friday, May 30th, at 10:00 a.m., the multicolor parade will visit El Tigre, Anzoátegui state, where the first edition of the contest was held in 1970. Cycling fans of Guanipa will enjoy an exciting tour of 100.0 kilometers across Peñalver Avenue.

The fifth stage, labeled as the queen test of the 2008 PDVSA Oriente Bike Tour, will start on Saturday, May 31st, at 09:30 a.m. in the city of Anaco, particularly in front of the headquarters of PDVSA Gas Comunal, to Altos de La Osa, Puerto La Cruz, to end with the steep climb of Los Altos de Santa Fe, Sucre State, after being on the go and covering 161.9 kilometers.

The final stage will take place on Sunday, June 01st, at 09:00 a.m., with the traditional tour of Paseo Colón in Puerto La Cruz, PDVSA Refinación Oriente is headquartered in this city. The bunch will cover 100.0 kilometers surrounded by the gorgeous landscape of the Caribbean Sea along the Anzoátegui coast.
