Caracas.- This tuesday during the General Assembly of the Federal Government Council with the participation of the Council of State and the Defense Council of the Nation, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, instructed Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA) and the Venezuelan Corporation of Guayana (CVG) the creation of the PDVSA Essequibo and CVG Essequibo Divisions, this as part of a total of nine decisions taken by the National Executive within the framework of the defense of the Essequibo territory.
From the theater of the Military Academy, the head of State emphasized: “PDVSA and the CVG immediately proceed to create these divisions and grant operating licenses for the exploration and exploitation of oil, gas and mines in the entire area of our Guayana Esequiba.
In this sense, President Maduro additionally proposed a special law, to be developed in discussion with the different sectors of the country, to establish a rule that prohibits contracting with companies that operate or collaborate in the unilateral concessions given by Guyana in the sea to be delimited, all this through said special law. “I propose three months to all these companies to withdraw from these operations.”
During the event, the head of State also instructed the creation of a national commission for the defense of Guayana Esequiba, chaired by the Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, as well as the immediate activation of a national debate for the creation of an organic law by the defense and creation of the Guayana Esequiba state.
Other decisions to highlight were the publication in the Official Gazette of the creation of the Integral Defense of Essequibo, with a total of 28 development sectors and which will have a headquarters in Tumeremo, Bolívar state. On the other hand, the president asked the educational sector to disseminate the new map of Venezuela without the so-called "claim area", but rather the complete map in an integral manner.
