Soverignty & Independence: the bolivarian dream

Caracas.- The political consolidation of the Great Colombia, after the defeat of the Spanish empire in Carabobo, means the breaking up of 300 years of colonial oppression and the beginning of the exercise of Independence and Sovereignty as Republic. This challenge also implied the international recognition of the Republic headed by Simón Bolívar.

After 200 years of a liberating victory, as an example of this exploit, we must take into account the powerful meaning of continental unity which is still fully in force, and which has also had very powerful external enemies since that time.

The strategic vision of the Supreme Commander Hugo Chávez kept the Bolivarian dream high by concreting powerful regional blocks: The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA in Spanish), the South American Nations Union (UNASUR in Spanish) and the Latin American and Caribbean States Community (CELAC in Spanish), which added to the Petrocaribe alliance.

All these instruments of cooperation raised the voice of the peoples against inequality, and the oppression of a selfish capitalism mediated by the imperialist claws.

If the Spanish empire and the United States imposed their claws against Bolívar before, today, the Bolivarian Revolution continues to be besieged by both North Americans and Europeans, who exert unilateral criminal coercive measures, trying to prevent our people from acting as a dignified Independent and Sovereign Nation.

To defend the Sovereignty through our work is the daily objective, to achieve each goal with tenacity and bravery amidst the attacks and sanctions, that is the daily challenge and the mission of being an oil worker is our greatest pride.
