Upgrade Division from the Orinoco Oil Belt overcomes USA sanctions

Barcelona.- Team work was a key factor for the Upgrade Division of the Orinoco Oil Belt Hugo Chávez to overcome criminal sanctions against Bolívar’s Homeland and against Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA) in 2019, and core operational activity will continue, as well as the constant crude oil operations.

Upgrade Division General Management made a special award to the labor force of the Storage and Crude Oil Shipment Terminal José Antonio Anzoátegui (TAECJAA in Spanish), and joint ventures Petropiar, Petrolera Sinovensa, Petromonagas, Petrocedeño and Petro San Félix for joining efforts as just one PDVSA to achieve goals set.

Imperialist sanctions became a challenge to patriotic oil workers, as well as a chance to show that PDVSA counts on human talent engaged with the industry and the Homeland, as during bad times corporate strategies came to light and an operational philosophy positive change was achieved by Ayacucho Circuit and Petropiar Upgrader to mix crude oil and produce and trade Merey 16 temporarily.

Besides the additional daily activities, TAECJAA professional staff and Petrocedeño, Petromonagas and Petro San Félix Upgraders supported crude oil storage by the habilitation of tank farms.

The right implementation of these measures produced important recovery sings in DCO (Crude Oil Diluted) processing, and registered a figure of 36 MBD by the end of year 2019.

287 served ships

TAECJAA, which is the country’s most important marine terminal from where over 92% of crude oil produced in Venezuela is exported, also registered positive figures by the end of year 2019.

287 ships were served from different segregations, and Merey16 was the highest volume crude oil in movement, achieving the figure of 286 millions of barrels. Destinies with greater number of routes were Shandong Port and Zanjiang Port in China and Mundra Port in India.

Upgrade Division, along with the Vice-Presidency of Exploration and Production (E&P) , Orinoco Oil Belt Hugo Chávez Frías Production Executive Direction and CIJAA Control and Monitoring Executive Direction reaffirm their commitment to continue implementing operational  and administrative strategies to guarantee business productivity and trade engagements fulfillment, to the benefit of the Venezuelan people and the patriotic labor force that make possible the country’s main industry standing up.
