RELEASE (CRUDE OIL SPILL)

PDVSA.COM /
Friday, 11 October 2019

Caracas.- Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA) categorically rejects statements made by Mr. Ricardo Salle, Minister of the Environment from the Federative Republic of Brazil, by means of which the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is accused of being responsible for the crude oil that has been polluting Brazil’s northern beaches since the beginning of September, considering that those claims are groundless, because there is no evidence at all of a crude oil spill in Venezuela’s oil fields that could have damaged the marine ecosystem of the neighbor country.

From the Venezuela oil company, we reiterate that we have not received any report from our clients and/or subsidiary companies informing about a possible breakdown or spill near Brazilian shores, which are located approximately at a distance of 6,650 away by sea from our oil facilities.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela ratifies its commitment to life preservation on mother earth, a historic objective embodied in our Constitution and in the Homeland Plan Law 2019-2025.

We condemn such tendentious allegations which pretend to deepen unilateral aggression and blockade actions against our People.
