Caracas.- In the framework of the XXI Ministerial Meeting of Gas Exporting Countries Forum held in the Russian Federation, Mr. Manuel Quevedo, People’s Power Minister of Petroleum and President of Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA), assured that Venezuela supports complementation among the different energy sources as a strategic factor to supply global gas demand and strengthen economy dynamics in gas producing countries.

In this sense, Mr. Quevedo said that it is a must to achieve market stability with the view to foster investment and coordinate its implementation with the demand. “In this context, it is vital to sovereignty and right of gas producing and consuming countries”, he stated.

Likewise, Mr. Quevedo pointed out that the only way to obtain long-term results is by means of a dynamics between balance and complementation and respect; that is why Venezuela ratified that his intention to promote understanding among producers, consumers and investors is an enabling environment for dialogue and commitment.

Those decisions are hooked to projections displayed during the Forum, which reflect that for year 2040 fossil fuels will continue being very important to meet world demand, which will be of approximately 72% to 76% of total consumption.

In turn, the People’s Power Minister of Petroleum said that these energy demand projections allow anticipating that “to guarantee energy supply is and will be a priority among the State policies”.

Hence, the also President of PDVSA advised that given that the periods of times of fossil fuels are and will be predictable, and very important to the planet, it is a key factor that consumption of said fuels has the lesser impact on the environment. “This will only be possible by strongly promoting natural gas consumption, which must occupy a vital role in public policy design of those countries aiming at reaching this objective”, said Mr. Quevedo.

The Venezuelan Minister declared that natural gas is widely known as a kind fuel. However, to concrete growing and increase participation in markets is an effort-demanding task at institutional level, and a higher commitment with a more dynamic and flexible energy flow, and the subsequent development of the industry.

Mr. Quevedo assured that is an honor to have a meeting point to discuss agreements and decisions to strengthen world energy supply capacity through natural gas aiming at prosperity for the economy of the peoples of the world.

Finally, the President of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum recalled a phrase by Commander Hugo Chávez: “Union has to go from emotion to speech; from speech and poetry to concretion; and from concretion to real facts”. That is why he invited to continue strengthening actions of each country and promote capacity for articulation in order to move forward a sustainable development based on energy safety through gas.
