Caracas.- On Thursday, Vice President of Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA) and Executive Secretary of Petrocaribe, Ysmel Serrano, held a meeting with Prime Minister of Belize, Dean Barrow, to present the Petrocaribe Solar project and assess cooperation agreements.
"We continue to tour Petrocaribe, following instructions of our President Nicolás Maduro, in order to strengthen ties of unity, brotherhood and trade relations with our brothers in the Caribbean”, said Serrano while thanking Belize’s support for the Venezuelan government in the midst of attacks by the United States.
The Petrocaribe Solar project, backed by the Petrocaribe energy alliance, is an initiative of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela promoted at the International Solar Alliance Summit, held last March in India.
Both officials examined fuel supply to Belize and progress in the implementation of Mission Miracle in that country.
Serrano also met with Minister of Economic Development, Petroleum, Investment and Trade, Edwin Contreras, to assess energy cooperation agreements.
Since 2005, Belize has been a member of the Petrocaribe Cooperation Agreement and since 2006 it shares with Venezuela the joint venture Alba Petrocaribe Belize Energy Limited (APBEL) as a local operator.
