New Delhi.- People’s Minister of Petroleum, Manuel Quevedo, along with Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza, participated in the founding conference of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), with the presence of 47 countries and 23 heads of state at the opening session in New Delhi, India.

The conference seeks to advance the development of solar energy among member countries. In his speech, Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, said that 62 nations have already joined the pact and hopes more nations will join.

ISA, spearheaded by India and supported by France in November 2015, within the framework of the Paris Climate Summit, is an international organization that brings together countries rich in solar resources.

Its purpose is to facilitate and accelerate the large-scale deployment of solar energy in developing countries, in order to meet the growing demand for energy and help combat climate change.

Later, Quevedo participated in an official event hosted by the Venezuelan Embassy in India with the presence of social and cultural organizations in support of President Nicolás Maduro, and the Bolivarian Revolution.

Since Friday, a high-level Venezuelan delegation led by Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza, has held a number of meetings with the Indian Chamber of Commerce to bring investment to Venezuela and strengthen the 15 Economic Drivers that President Maduro is promoting. They have also held meetings on oil and energy issues to strengthen Venezuela – India relations.
