Barcelona.- In order to strengthen the Hydrocarbons Economic Driver promoted by Workers' President Nicolás Maduro for the growth of the Venezuelan economy, Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA), through Petro San Félix, is implementing  the Petroleum Coke Handling and Loading Plan for petcoke stockpiled in outside yards of José Antonio Anzoátegui Industrial Complex (CIJAA).

The physical execution of this project’s first phase is currently underway. It calls for the construction of a petroleum coke rail transportation system named Rail Veyor, which will take petcoke from the outside yards to the service dock, later to be sold to the international market.

With this innovative system 15,000 metric tons of petcoke per day will be dispatched, ensuring its effective disposal and freeing up yards, while complying with environmental regulations.

The stockpiling of petcoke in CIJAA's outside yards was the result of operational incidents caused by errors in the design of the Terminal. We should bear in mind that these facilities were under the control of transnational corporations; they became PDVSA’s in 2007, following the enactment of Decree 5200 for the Nationalization of the Orinoco Oil Belt, driven by the Eternal Giant, Hugo Chávez.

12 million metric tons will be disposed of in five years, which will make possible to meet the demands of the People’s Ministry of Ecosocialism and Water.

With the start of this project, Socialist PDVSA fulfills the Hydrocarbons Economic Driver which transforms and diversifies the national economy and boosts production in the country.
